About us

Our Beliefs

OUR BELIEFS

RBS upholds the fundamental tenets of the Christian faith as revealed in Scripture, the Bible—the Word of God to humankind.

We believe:

  1. In the divine inspiration and entire trustworthiness of holy Scripture and its supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct.

  2. In one God eternally existing in three Persons—Father, Son and Holy Spirit—and sovereign in creation, providence, revelation, redemption and final judgment.

  3. That the Lord Jesus Christ is God manifest in the flesh; we believe in his virgin birth, his sinless human life, his vicarious and atoning death, his bodily resurrection, his ascension, his present mediatorial work in heaven and his personal return in power and glory to receive his people unto himself, to execute judgment and to reign as King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

  4. That humankind, created by God to worship and serve him, is alienated from him because of sin and is therefore under his wrath and judgment.

  5. That the salvation of humankind from sin and its consequences is entirely an act of God’s sovereign grace; it is not achieved by any meritorious works on their part but is appropriated by him through repentance towards God and faith in (commitment to) Jesus Christ and in his substitutionary and redemptive work on the cross.

  6. In the regenerating and sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit who indwells believers, producing in them his fruit, granting to them his gifts, empowering them for service and enabling them to live holy lives pleasing to God.

  7. That the Church, which is the body of Christ, consists of all who have been redeemed and reconciled to God through faith in Jesus Christ. It is a universal fellowship in which there is no difference based on race, social standing, age or gender, visibly expressed in local congregations of Christians (local churches).

  8. That there will be a resurrection of all who have died when Christ returns in power and glory.

  9. That there will be a day of final judgment of all humankind, both those living at that time and those resurrected—the just to eternal life and the unjust to eternal damnation.

  10. In the personality, power, malignity and final doom of the devil called Satan.
