RBS is a Christian discipleship school for youth who have just completed their Form 5 or Form 6, or are on break from college or university. It is run by the Brethren Assemblies of Malaysia as a ministry of Inter Brethren Assemblies (IBA) Youth Development with a three-fold goal of:

  • INSPIRING you to a heartfelt and committed devotion to God;

  • INSTRUCTING you in His Word in the fundamentals of your faith, so that you might grow to become a mature, thinking Christian rather than a spoon-fed one;

  • INVOLVING you in practical service for God through the missions trips.

RBS is run in the format of a school rather than a camp. It is designed to be a memorable once-in-a-lifetime experience, where the focus is on discipleship based on the Word of God as the foundation for all aspects of our life. As such, applicants must meet the minimum prerequisites, which are:

  • a born-again believer;

  • recommended by a leader of his/her local church (applications are open to students from both Brethren and non-Brethren churches);

  • willing to study hard and complete all assignments, participate in all RBS activities, and abide by the RBS rules as directed by the Principal.

RBS will take place at the Highlands Christian Centre in Cameron Highlands. Students must attend the entire duration of the school (exception provided only for family emergencies and scholarship/entrance interviews).

Note that though you may bring a handphone with you so that you can use it while you travel, you will be required to surrender it to the staff for the entire duration of the school. Communal phones for the use of students will be made available during selected periods in the day during the course of the school.

The fee for attending RBS is as follows:

  • RM1,500 per person for applicants from Brethren churches (You will be required to pay RM750. The balance of RM750 will be paid by your church.)

  • RM1,800 per person for applicants from non-Brethren churches

(The difference in the fees above reflects the subsidy given by IBAYD to students from Brethren churches, as IBAYD is primarily funded by contributions from those churches. Applicants from non-Brethren churches pay a fee that is closer to the actual cost of the school per student. Parents of Brethren applicants who are financially more than able to bear the full cost of the fees are encouraged to consider reimbursing the church portion of the fees (RM750) directly to the church itself in order to ease the financial burden of the sending church.)

The fee covers all materials, accommodation and food during the length of the school, personal accident insurance and transport to and from your mission trip destinations. The fee does not cover your own transportation to Cameron Highlands at the start of RBS and your transportation home after RBS ends (which you will have to organise on your own). You will also need to bring some spending money for other expenses you may incur during RBS (e.g. laundry, own food, book purchases, etc), typically in the region of RM150-250. Please take note that all students are required to purchase one book (approximately RM40-55) for a book report during RBS. If you are sending your clothes for laundry, you should typically allocate about RM60 for this in total.

Financial constraints should not stand in the way of those who truly desire to attend RBS. Contact your church leaders, or our school administrator at the contact below, and we will see what we can do to help you out.

NOTE:  Covid-19 concerns

If any new developments with Covid-19 require us to cancel or shorten the school, you will be refunded on a prorated basis. The school programme may also need to be adapted depending on prevailing Covid-19 conditions and SOPs at the time.
